1) Do you think police should be primarily crime fighters, or primarily public servants? BOTH is NOT an acceptable answer to which one.

 

2) Compare and contrast two of these historical "riots": Detroit (1967) and the so called "Rodney King" Los Angeles riots of 1992.

What did these riots have in common? 

What effect, if any, did the police subculture ("us against them") have on the the events that took place?

If you were the police chief in any of these cities following the riots, what actions would you take by way of recruitment, training and supervision to minimize the likelihood of these events repeating themselves?
