One of the tools an investigator may use to elicit information during an investigation is deception. The investigator may lie to or deceive the person being interviewed or interrogated, leaving the impression that they have more factual information, witnesses, or evidence than really exists. To what extent do you think that deception is ethical, when used by private investigators in conducting investigations for their employer?
