What problems could result from these areas being cut?

The country has been in a deep recession for several years, and it appears that full recovery will not occur for several more years. This has resulted in police departments’ budgets being drastically reduced. Many departments have lost between 25 and 35 percent of their sworn personnel as a result of the cuts, and continued training has suffered as well. 

 

If you were a police executive facing more budget cuts, how would you go about deciding where to make your cuts? What would you cut first, second, then third? Why? What problems could result from these areas being cut?
