What inroads has the victims' rights movement made regarding changes in the criminal justice system and process?

Should victims play a larger role in the criminal justice system? What inroads has the victims' rights movement made regarding changes in the criminal justice system and process?

 

Victim assistance and victim compensation programs are well established in many jurisdictions, but are they enough to compensate victims for their losses? Who should pay the victims' compensation? Should part of a convicted felon's punishment be to recompense the victim? Is this Constitutional?
