BROKEN WINDOW THEORY
Â
The Broken Windows Theory is a theory first described in 1982 which suggested this if officers focused on addressing disorder, i.e. broken windows and less serious crime, this would help mitigate future more serious crime. This theory was tested in the 1970s even before the theory was formally published through a study on foot patrol. Read the following article which actually suggested that foot patrol did not impact crime rate. However, the public felt safer.Â
