What is remarkable is that the church Santa Maria della Vittoria in Rome where the sculpture is located, is famous for exactly this work, which is considered the victory of Baroque art. The sculpture depicts the moment when St. Teresa feels how the angel with a golden arrow hurt her heart, which causes her both joy and pain.
