Locate four bills that affected different Texas criminal laws (adding a new crime, changing a current crime, or affecting the punishment). This Legislative Inquiry should address four bills that affected crimes or punishments discussed within the first two modules. Examples are Criminal Negligence, Strict Liability, Possession, Proof Beyond A Reasonable Doubt, Double Jeopardy, Statute Of Limitations, Hate Crimes, Parties To An Offense, Accessory Before The Fact, Accessory After The Fact, Law Of Complicity, Vicarious Responsibility, First Degree Murder, Homicide, Capital Murder, Manslaughter, Suicide, Sudden Passion, Intent-To-Kill Murder, Fetal Homicide, Rape Shield Law, Stalking and so much more.  For each of the bills you select, you will provide the following information:

 

1.      Which legislative session it was from;

2.      What bill it was (HB ___ or SB ____) and who sponsored (and/or authored) the bill;

3.      What provision of Texas law (i.e., what statute) it affected;

4.      IN YOUR OWN WORDS, what the proposed bill intended to accomplish; and

5.      The end result (e.g., died in committee, enrolled, engrossed, vetoed, enacted into law effective on [date], etc.; for the 2015 session, explain that it has not yet been considered)
