The Ideal Reader

Hopefully you have reviewed the Ideal Reader materials. The Ideal Reader.docx

In a reader's response, continuing to improve the notion of the 'ideal reader' in the narrative you generate, respond to the literary piece cited below. What do you know for sure about the work?

You may want to reread material which explains Reader Response, including the chapter I've included in case your books haven't arrived yet. readerresponsechapter-2.pdf as well as the background information on Reader response. If you look at the assignments board, I've provided a large section which provides background information for each of the types of literary criticism.

With poetry, sense orientations are a good place to start: what grabs your senses in the poem? What questions does the title evoke? Where do the words take your imagination as you read them -- does something about the piece change when you read it aloud? How do you understand what this poem means? The Sand Merchant.rtf

These are at least 250-word responses. Use short passages of text, citing as appropriate, to enrich what you share with your reader.

Remember your heading, a title, and to write in the style of the literary criticism methods we're using presently!
