One of the topics this week is "offender reentry".

One of the topics this week is "offender reentry". More than 100,000 offenders are released back into society from jails and prisons each year. The successful transition of offenders back into the community -- without their reoffending -- is critical to community safety, yet the high rate of offender recidivism is proof that many of the efforts to prevent re-incarceration are failing miserably. This week's readings note that some of the support efforts to integrate convicts successfully back into society are focused on specific offender groups. What "offender groups" do you think most need help reintegrating back into society? (Hint: "offender group" can be almost any subsection of the prison population that you want to discuss.) Back up your answer with research/stats on why this particular group needs reentry support and what sort of support you propose.
