Regarding the Positivist and Classical schools of thought on the criminal justice system (from the readings), what are some of the ways that you see/hear both of these arguments being played out in today’s society? Think about criminal behavior, police actions, prosecutorial issues, sentencing and incarceration issues, etc. Pick one way and discuss how both philosophies are used by opposing groups to justify their arguments.

Here’s two hints: 

1) You hear these theories being played out in the media all the time!

2) Consider the validity of both arguments and discuss how they (unknowingly?) use the Classical/Positivist theories to justify their arguments.
