Throughout the course you have gained a great deal of information about human rights, the rule of law, and international justice. You have looked at each concept from various perspectives. Think back now to your understanding of human rights, the rule of law, and international justice as you began the course. Your understanding was likely shaped by images and stories of human rights issues in the news media or by your own perceptions of the concepts. As you near the end of the course, it may be helpful for you to reflect on how your understanding of human rights, the rule of law, and international justice has grown and evolved.

To prepare for this Discussion:

  • Review Chapter 14 in the course text Universal Human Rights in Theory and Practice. Think about various humanitarian issues highlighted in the readings. Consider how the reading further expands your understanding of human rights, the rule of law, and international justice.
  • Revisit your response to the Week 1 Discussion. Consider your initial understanding of human rights, the rule of law, and international justice at the beginning of this course.
  • Reflect on how your understanding of human rights, the rule of law, and international justice has evolved throughout the course.
