Recently, six Baltimore police officers were arrested in the death of Freddie Gray.  Video of their contact with Freddie Gray went viral on the internet and unrest in the City of Baltimore followed.  Baltimore police officers were called upon to keep the peace in the midst of the unrest.  They were attacked by mobs and several police officers were injured. Some seriously.  It has been reported that many Baltimore police officers felt betrayed by their City Officials, Police Commisioner and the community.  Since this time there has been a drastic increase in violent crime in that city.   Question is are the police not enforcing laws as agressively as before?  Is there a slowdown in law enforcement?

General Question:  After reading the article, watching the video and reading the chapter 2 subsections under Law Enforcement Agencies beginning on page 24 of your text and considering your experience or past contact with "law enforcement"  What are some of the problems that exist between the community and the police?  What could be done to improve that relationship?  You are free to focus your Initial response on anything you found interesting in the related reading in your textbook, Carr's Comments, or article, or in viewing the video..
