Last week, you prepared a 1-page summary of Item 7 of an SEC 10-K for a company you selected. This week, begin thinking about the details of the 10-K. For example, the 10-K includes various performance measures that can be analyzed and from which conclusions can be drawn for a variety of purposes. Theses performance measures are often communicated by financial professionals to stakeholders. (NB: Since you selected a company last week, please continue to use that company for this and later Assignments. However, sometimes your first choice does not work out. If you are finding that is difficult to find public information for the company you selected last week, then reach out to your Instructor for assistance. For this Assignment, you analyze various performance measures provided in a company’s SEC 10-K.  THE COMPANY IS JCPENNEYS. PLEASE DO THIS ASSIGNMENT ON JCPENNEY'S ONLY.

To prepare:

  • Review the major sections of Item 7 of the 10-K for the company you selected in the Week 1 Assignment.
  • Identify four different performance measurements that management discusses in its review in this section.
  • Compare these performance measurements to those found in this week’s chapters from the course text.

Submit by Day 7 a 4-page analysis of the four performance measurements you selected in the company’s SEC 10-K Item 7.
