Based on the Molly Wright homicide case study from the analysis assignment this week, create an impact pattern to analyze.
Conduct this exercise in your bathroom shower stall or other area that is suitable.
  1. Simulate blood by using tap water colored with red food coloring. Place a designated amount of blood on a sponge, or use a paper plate if the sponge absorbs too much of the blood.
  2. Tape a poster board to a wall or surface to act as the designated target.
  3. Place or hold the blood-soaked sponge or paper plate near the poster board.
  4. Strike the blood-soaked sponge or paper plate with a rubber mallet, or other similar object that you have available, creating an impact pattern on the poster board.
  5. Allow the blood on the poster board to dry.
  6. Analyze the impact pattern.
