  • Massachusetts Parole Board Members Resign

This video depicts the 2008 parole hearing of Dominic Cinelli, a career criminal in Massachusetts.  After his release, Cinelli was killed in a shootout with police, during a robbery.  A police officer also died in the exchange.

 1. A furor subsequently erupted as critics expressed outrage over the board's decision to release Cinelli. Later, six members of the  board resigned.

 2. Should the board have refused to parole Cinelli?  Why, or why not?

 3. Parole board members in essence are asked to try and predict the future.  Is that a reasonable expectation?
