XXXXX, thank you for your submission. I think you have a good start here, but I want you to work on a few things in the future. First, please work on the in text citations. A citation is comprised of the original author’s last name and the year of publication for the article you are referencing. There are many sentences that need citing, and make sure you are using the appropriate citations for quotes when you quote. If you use information form a source, you must give credit to that source. If you make an assertion of opinion or fact then you have to support that opinion or fact with information from an academic source.

Next, please work on the APA formatting. Make sure you are using the appropriate title page and headers. You want you use Times New Roman font in the header, the title page, and the rest of the body. The words, “Running Head” should appear on the title page in the header just before the title. All subsequent pages must only contain the title.

Lastly, please work on the quoting and paraphrasing. You have a fairly high similarity rating here, which means that much of your paper is taken word for word from  your sources. Please put these passages in your own words and give credit to the original source. Read the information, process it, then rewrite it in your own words with the source put away.

Ms. Singh is a client of your firm. She was recently arrested for breach of peace during an altercation at a bar. Ms. Singh was the recipient of unwanted advances from another patron at the bar. Her boyfriend became jealous and punched the other man. Ms. Singh was arrested for breach of peace. She is very concerned about the possibility of a long prison sentence and capital punishment. Breach of peace is a misdemeanor.

The criminal attorney you work for asked you to complete the following:

  • Research and explain the difference between a felony and misdemeanor, including the difference between a misdemeanor and felony conviction and the consequences.
  • Write a memo explaining the differences between a misdemeanor and a felony and, in particular, addressing Ms. Singh’s concerns about prison and the death penalty if she is eventually convicted of the crime. Remember, Ms. Singh was arrested for breach of peace, and a breach of peace is a misdemeanor. An explanation of her charges should clear up her concerns.
