This week, you will imagine you are an intern for the General PSY Master’s program doing a presentation to educate high school youth at your local high school. You want to introduce a program that enables students to take the VIA youth survey, which is a version of the strengths survey designed specifically for children between the ages of 10 and 17. Students will learn about their individual strengths and how they can apply them in areas of their lives (e.g., social relationships, cases of bullying, life challenges, peer groups, school violence, and family relationships).
Develop a visual (your choice) to deliver to the parents and school administration. Be sure it includes the following:
·        Introduce positive psychology and standards and findings about the importance of character strengths.
·        Explain the VIA survey. Include how it was created and what strengths it assesses.
·        Discuss how the VIA survey has been adapted for adolescents, including those who identify as LGBTQ.
·        Do character strengths apply to those who have a different background and/or culture from the heteronormative White male? How do character strengths and virtues apply to those who identify as LGBTQ? Do the same signature strengths and virtues apply?
·        Evaluate the potential value of your program to address bullying and school violence issues.
·        Include specific examples of how strength knowledge during adolescence might have a positive impact on specific aspects of the students’ lives in adulthood. Â
Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics as well as speaker notes for each slide. The speaker notes may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists, and should cite material appropriately.
Length: 9-10 slides (with a separate reference slide)
Notes Length: 150-200 words for each slide
Resources: Support your presentation with at least five scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources may be included.
Your assignment should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards where appropriate.
