Did you know that Arizona State University (ASU) is monitoring its energy data to determine real time solutions for reducing its carbon foot print on campus? The Campus Metabolism tool debuted 2008 with one building and now has expanded to include a robust set of data on several of ASU’s buildings. ASU research engineer Joby Carlson and ASU’s National Center of Excellence on SMART Innovations had this to say about their innovative tool, “A lot of people go through their lives not knowing how much energy or water they use daily or how much of their trash goes to landfills versus recycling centers.
