Complete the following 3 items:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Complete the following 3 items:

1.  CONCEPT PAPER WEEK 7:    Complete a self-check of Chapters 1 and 2 using Dr. Jean’s Concept Paper Self-Check Tool©, then do the following:

Update the change matrix with your list of revisions made in response to facilitator feedback for weeks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

Prepare to submit your finalized Concept Paper with the Change Matrix on Day 2 (Wed), Week 8 for approval review for Document Manager.  Your Doc723 facilitator will be the Document Manager reviewer for this class. The week 8 approval is required before submitting to the Document manager.

For week 7: there is nothing to submit for the Concept Paper. On your own, do the self-review.

2.    ELEVATOR PITCH:    graded

This assignment represents the first installment in the developing elevator speech series. In Doc723, you will develop an elevator pitch which in later classes you will continue to develop into an elevator speech of your dissertation.

Here is the sequence of development: Doc723-develop elevator pitch; Doc734R-advance your pitch into an elevator speech; in Doc741-revise and refine your elevator speech to appropriately represent the refinement of your dissertation study. Your final Doc741 draft will be recorded and also be submitted in written format.

Review the resources given below and the Elevator Pitch Grading Rubric prior to completing this assignment.

·       Why Develop the Elevator Speech for Your Dissertation

·       How to Craft an Elevator Speech That Makes a Big Impact

·       Elevator Speeches Made Easy

Follow the instructions below to complete your assignment.

Grading: Only the written elevator “pitch” items (1 through 5) will be assessed. It is not necessary to write out sentences. It is OK to give the bullet point and the key points you will discuss.

Compose a written elevator pitch that effectively summarizes your concept paper. Your elevator speech) should be written for a specific audience in your field and address the following:

  1. Your topic
  2. The problem driving the research
  3. Why the problem is interesting for the field
  4. Why the study needs to be done
  5. The method and design being used to solve the problem (e.g., Qualitative, Quantitative, Mixed followed by the design)

For week 7: Submit your assignment as a post.

For the elevator “speech” you will revise items 1-5 above and add items 6-8 to effectively summarize your dissertation study:

  1. The primary skills you have developed from conducting the research (e.g., survey sampling, interviewing, or specific data analysis skills)
  2. The secondary or soft skills you have developed from conducting the research (e.g., unique approach to problem solving, ability to effectively receive critical feedback, or project management)
  3. One important thing you have discovered to date regarding your study (perhaps as the hook to get you started, or it could be the way to close your presentation)

3. ELEVATOR PITCH VIDEO: Optional For Practice and Peer review (your recording is an optional item you may share for peer review. Please share your URL link for our video with the class in the week 7 DQ2, for peer review. You do not need to post it to this assignment thread. Note: the directions below reference the elevator “speech”, however for this class please do this video on your elevator “pitch” rather than the “speech”. (The elevator speech video will be required for Doc741. )

Record a 3- to 5-minute video in which you deliver your elevator speech in a professional and precise manner.
