Week 8: By day 2 (Wednesday) of Week 8, submit your (1) finalized Concept Paper and finalized Change Matrix for facilitator review approval OK to submit to document manager. Remember: your facilitator will be the document manager reviewer. This step will help ensure your Document Manager submission will be approved.

 

By day 6 (Sunday), you will receive one of the following review feedback notices:

 

1. Approval to submit to the Document Manager

or

2. Will not pass Document Manager approval. Additional time needed to develop Concept Paper. Contact academic advisor for enrollment in one of the classes below (contact your academic counselor): 

 

(1) Enroll in the 1-week post Doc723 class: minor revisions are needed.

(2) Enroll in the 3-week post Doc723 class: revisions are needed throughout for alignment (problem, purpose, methodology, Chapter 2, etc.); and/or scholarly writing.

(3) Enroll in another Doc723 class: there are major changes needed: issues with discipline alignment, section component alignment, methodology alignment and/or understanding, required missing section components, and/or scholarly writing.

 

If Concept Paper is approved for Document Manager Submission:

Week 8: On or before day 7 (Monday) of Week 8, submit the finalized Concept Paper to the Document Manager.

Finalize the document for review. At this point, the paper should include the following sections:

Chapter 1:

• Introduction
• Background
• Problem Statement
• Purpose of the Study
• Population and Sample
• Significance of the Study
• Nature of the Study, including
• Appropriateness of the method
• Two potential designs with support for the most appropriate design
• Proposed data collection instrument 
• Proposed data analysis approach
• Research Questions/Hypotheses (if applicable)
• Theoretical or Conceptual Framework
• Definition of Terms
• Scope and Delimitations
• Assumptions and Limitations
• Chapter Summary

 

Chapter 2:

• Literature Review (20 to 30 pages in length for the concept review--note that this chapter must later be expanded to 30 to 50 pages in length for the full proposal) with subheadings for:
• Title Searches and Documentation
• Historical Content
• Current Content
• Theoretical or Conceptual Framework Literature
• Methodology Literature
• Research Design Literature (using thought leaders in the design)
• Conclusions
• Chapter Summary
