Lab 4: GIS Stats Using ArcGIS
Due Week 8 and worth 100 points
Instructions
1. Sign on to https://www.arcgis.com/features/free-trial.html with established free trial credentials.
2. Click on the “Map” link at the top left-hand corner.
3. Click on the “Add” option and add three categories (e.g., oil and gas, recreation, etc.) to the map. Within these categories, add three to five components from the available map points that are appropriate for the location selected. Provide a screen shot upon completion of the step and save into the Word document that will be submitted to the assignment link on Blackboard.
4. Click on the “Directions” option. Select a starting location and ending location.
5. Using the Options button, provide both the walking distance and driving distance between the two points selected. Provide a screen shot upon completion of the step and save into the Word document that will be submitted to the assignment link on Blackboard.
6. Click on “Add” option and “Browse Living Atlas Layers”. For the United States map, add 10 layers factor in the area selected (i.e., pet spending, flood risk, railroads).
7. Save the map.
Deliverables
Document each layer selected that is being added to the map. For five individual layers selected in the United States, document each statistic in the Word document being submitted to the assignment link.
Add appropriate caption to each of the three screen shots generated from the above exercises and save into a Word document. Submit the Word document created with applicable text and screen shots to the assignment link. Answer the questions below.
