HU 245 Unit 1 Seminar

Each unit’s Seminar is an occasion to meet with your instructor and other students in real time, as a community, to develop a greater understanding of the weekly topic. In a more practical vein, you will also have occasion to discuss solutions to whatever questions or concerns you may have about your curriculum in general, or current assignments in particular.

During the first Seminar, you will begin to explore the relevance of course content and Learning Activities to your own life and compare to others.

Option 1- Attend Seminar:

Your first Seminar topic will be the nature and value of the philosophical study of ethics. Before the Seminar, consider the following questions

o

o    After reading the course Syllabus, what expectations of the course are still unclear to you

o    What skills might you acquire by studying ethics and participating in the learning activities of this course? Are they important in your own personal or professional life? Can you think of examples of consequential or non-consequential reasoning that have affected your home life, your work environment, or your community in the past week?

Option 2- Alternative Assignment:

You will benefit most from attending the graded Seminar as an active participant. However, If you are not able to attend the weekly seminar, complete the Alternate Assignment, Seminar Option 2, by posting to the Seminar Discussion board
