Discussion Prompt1 : Cultural and Geographical Differences in the Classroom
· Educational leaders must recognize that differences due to geographic upbringings are not shortcomings but can be attributed to students’ experiences outside of the local community; subsequently, educators should strive to understand and accommodate these differences. Discuss how where a student lives or has lived (geographically) help determine the student’s cultural identity and how educators should accommodate these differences.
Discussion Prompt 2: Every Kid Needs a Champion Reflection
· In Rita Pierson’s Ted talk, Every Kid needs a Champion, she stated that, “Teaching and learning should bring joy. How powerful would our would be if we had kids who were not afraid to take risks, who were not afraid to think, and who had a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be?” Discuss ways you can become a child’s champion.
