Week 2 – Discussion Board
Objectives:
CLO1 The entry level principal knows how to implement communication strategies in setting high expectations for relationships with internal and external stakeholders as partners supporting student learning.
W2LO1 - The student will demonstrate the capacity to evaluate, and implement management strategies that affect school safety, facilitate behavior management, and allocate resources effectively - including staff time
.W2L04 - The student will implement appropriate forms of written and verbal communication to establish expectations and feedback.
One aspect of your role as a campus leader will be to provide supportive feedback to your faculty and staff in a variety of settings. As a leader it is important to understand that providing effective feedback can be an essential part of a person’s learning and growth. You should reflect on why you are giving the feedback. Are you trying to improve a situation or a person’s performance? Your approach to feedback should be positive and focused on improvement.
Wiggins (2012) suggested that to be effective, feedback should be specific and personalized as well as actionable and timely. When providing feedback you are offering valuable information that should be useful to another person. In your feedback, your specific advice should be relevant, immediate and clearly actionable.
