EDLD 5339 Week 3 Discussion Board (W3LO6, W3LO7, CLO3)

Week 3 – Discussion Board

Objectives:

W3LO6 - The student demonstrates the ability to allocate resources effectively and works to access additional resources as needed to support learning.

W3LO7 - The student will implement appropriate forms of written and verbal communication to establish expectations and feedback.

CLO3: The entry level principal understands and demonstrates the capacity to evaluate, develop, and implement management, communication, and operation systems that affect school safety, allocate resources effectively, and promote the vision of the school.

One aspect of your role as a campus leader will be to provide supportive feedback to your faculty and staff in a variety of settings. As a leader it is important to understand that providing effective feedback can be an essential part of a person’s learning and growth. You should reflect on why you are giving the feedback. Are you trying to improve a situation or a person’s performance? Your approach to feedback should be positive and focused on improvement.

Wiggins (2012) suggested that to be effective, feedback should be specific and personalized as well as actionable and timely. When providing feedback you are offering valuable information that should be useful to another person. In your feedback, your specific advice should be relevant, immediate and clearly actionable.

Wiggins, G. (2012). Seven keys to effective feedback. Educational Leadership 70(1), 10-16.
