IT460 Week 2 Discussion Practice for the Business Case
Practice for the Business Case
This discussion is a way to practice cost and feature comparisons as well as writing strong statements of the benefits of a technology purchase.Â
Determine:
·        Who – choose a real family member (of any generation), or a non-technical friend or coworker. You can use a pseudonym for the person, but are encouraged to focus on a real person so this scenario has greater relevance.
·        What – decide on which one kind of technology purchase this person would want. Choose from a smart phone, a tablet, or a laptop.Â
Research:
·        Choose two specific brands and models of the technology purchase (example: an iPhone 8 and a Samsung Galaxy Note 8). For each one, find an online source that adequately describes the features. Manufacturers' sites are preferred.
Write: In your initial post, answer all of the following:
1.     Identify the desired purchase (smart phone, tablet, or laptop) and the person who is interested in the purchase.
2.     Provide a cost and main feature comparison, taking into consideration the kinds of features your person might be most interested in having. Do not simply copy from your sources; consider a comparison chart or bulleted lists and write as much of the content as possible in your own words.
3.     Write a strong recommendation of at least two sentences for the purchase of one of the two items you compared, explaining the benefits of this choice. Your personal preference or use is not a valid recommendation; base your recommendation on facts.
4.     Provide the URLs for your sources at the end of your post. There is no need for in-text citation or full reference entries.
Write an original descriptive subject line for your initial post (instead of "unit 2 discussion"), as labeling content will be important to your clients. Do not copy the questions or quote from sources; write your post in your own words. Remember to follow all rules of engagement.
