IT 460 Week 7 Assignment
Interface Models and Development
Unit outcomes practiced in this assignment:
·        Evaluate human-computer interface design.
·        Prepare recommendations for web presence and mobile applications.
·        Develop website wireframe diagrams.Â
Course outcomes practiced in this assignment:
·        IT460-5: Integrate models and diagrams.Â
Purpose
You as the Systems Analyst have been focusing thus far on the "inside" of a system, but realize the need to understand the interfaces used by a system as well. In this assignment, a new client is asking for assistance in building a website "from scratch" and needs for you to make design recommendations based on research.Â
This assignment is to be prepared in an APA-formatted document. Research is required, and assistance for APA formatting and citation/referencing is available in the Writing Center.
Assignment Instructions and Requirements
Scenario:Â Margaret Valley is a very small, rural township. Recently, the township was bequeathed a nice collection of books and movies (DVDs) which, per the benefactor's will, are to be made available for lending to citizens of all ages. The township's council realizes that there is room in the municipal building to house these items. The building is already wired for internet and two computers have been purchased just for library use.
The physical parameters are thus set – and so the true needs are to develop a database, place it in the cloud, and design an interface for both library workers and patrons. This week, your research will lead to a suitable website design, with next week's work focused on database design.
Part 1: Home Page Research
Find a library website home page with the purpose to provide information and link to other parts of the site. Provide the following information focusing only on this page (without clicking to other pages at the site).
·        Provide the full URL.
·        Paragraph 1: Organization.
·        Describe the location of headers and/or footers, location of navigation menu(s), number of columns (if applicable), if large areas of the screen are unused, etc.
·        Write at least 75 words.
·        Paragraph 2: Branding.
·        Explain the use of color (combinations, locations) and font (families, variety of sizes, alignment). Include how color and font aid in branding.
·        Write at least 75 words.
Part 2: Original Diagram
Consider what you learned about the organization of the library site you reviewed and develop your own design for your client.
·        Use Visio and develop a wireframe.
·        Include the location of the logo, navigation, main area for home page content, and other elements you feel are necessary.
·        Do not simply copy the design of the page you reviewed; create your own design.
·        Do not add images, color, or actual content; this is to be a line drawing showing where items should be placed on the screen. Your wireframe should look something like the image below, although of course with your own page organization and detail and relating to the client's needs:
Â
·        Copy and paste your Visio diagram into your Word document. Screenshots are not allowed.
Part 3: Online Form Research
Find an online fill-in form for purchases with the purpose is gather information from a site visitor. This page must be viewable without login so that your professor can check your work. Provide the following information focusing only on the first page of the form (without clicking to additional pages at the site).
·        Provide the full URL.
·        Paragraph: Organization.
·        Describe the location of headers and/or footers, location of navigation menu(s) if present, alignment of page elements, and methods of data input (drop-down choices, text-box fill in, radio buttons or check boxes, etc.).
·        Write at least 75 words.
Part 4: Appropriate Form Input
Consider your client's needs and provide a list of form fields that would be appropriate for a library card application form. Present the content in a Word table.
You need at least 9 fields, the on-page method by which this data may be best gathered (at least four of which must have a multiple-choice type option as explained below), and whether or not the field will be required.
Methods:
Text (requires user direct-typed input)
Drop-down *
Radio buttons (only one choice may be made) *
Check boxes (multiple choices may be made, or none) *
* These require identification of the possible choices in your table.Â
Start by copying the table below, and then adding a minimum of 8 more fields.Â

Additional parameters
·        Provide an appropriate subheading for each of the four parts. Do not provide additional subheadings.
·        APA formatting is required.
·        A reference page is not required; follow instructions for providing the URLs of the webpages you reviewed. All other information should be gathered from your understanding and critical thinking of the scenario.
