Students will write a 5-6 page paper about a personal family issue (cut offs, illnesses, enmeshments, divorce, etc.). 

  1. Using Gilbert Chapter 3 and 4 as a guide, select a family issue that can be found in your family and is illustrated in your genogram. 
  2. Find at least 3 research (journal) articles about the subject
  3. Write a paper that includes the following:
    1. Introduction that clearly describes the issue being explored. 
    2. Summary of three research articles that clearly demonstrates how current research relate back to the family issue.
    3. Analysis of how Systems Theory can explain the origin of the issue and how it is perpetuated.
    4. Analysis of one other family theory (Developmental, Social Exchange, Life Course, or Ecological, etc.)
    5. Summary that synthesizes family issue, research and theory. 
    6. Citations and references in APA format and headings for each section.
