Greetings! Please post a three (3) paragraph response to the discussion topic. Furthermore, students must acknowledge at least two (2) other students' postings with two (2) paragraphs each (total of seven paragraphs). The objective is increased student interaction discussing Disaster Response. Just wanted to ensure students fully understand the expectation of the discussion forums. Writing 1-3 short sentences saying "I agree" and then skipping a line is not a fully developed paragraph. Finally, students MUST post their three (3) replies on three (3) different days so waiting until the last day is a bad strategy to earn maximum credit. Â
TOPIC:
The dismissal of FEMA Under Secretary Michael Brown and the widespread criticism of FEMA's initial Katrina efforts remains an EM issue. Does FEMA's many disaster responsibilities demand a director who is a career civil servant with knowledge, skills, and abilities for disaster operations acquired over many decades of emergency management incidents? Or is the current method of the FEMA director being a political appointment working well? What will likely happen long-term to FEMA and DHS with the appointment of Craig Fugate?
Please ensure you have at least ONE quote with an APA citation supporting your position(s).
P.S. I provided three articles to help the discussion
