SEL 7100 Week 2 Assignment Display a Visual Representation

Instructions

Now that you have developed an understanding of the key components of SEL, use this week’s resources, as well as any additional ones you might find, to develop a visual display of how SEL can be addressed and encouraged during the course of a student’s personal growth toward adulthood, in both a personal and an educational setting. You may want to consider a fictional student and his/her progress through the stages of growth and development from pre-school to 6th grade, or through the secondary school years.  Create a timeline with moments or markers of various stages of growth and what SEL expectations might look like for him/her.

You can use any tool to compose your illustration. You may have access to special software, though you can also use the SmartArt and shapes features in Microsoft Office, a mind map tool (conduct an Internet search to find free mind map sites and templates), or even just freehand your illustration. You are welcome to use any tool, though you must ensure that you can upload the file to the Dropbox. You may need to save your illustration as a .pdf, submit a Word document with a link to your illustration saved on the Internet, or take a digital picture to upload.

Accompany this visual display with a recorded audio or video narrative that explains these key markers and milestones that might be used to determine an individual’s progress toward healthy social emotional competence. Be sure to include 6-8 significant milestones and markers. The verbal narrative can be recorded as a voice-over or video that walks your professor through the milestones and markers you have shown.

Length: 1 complete illustration, verbal narrative/video no longer than 5 minutes, and a reference page

References: Include a minimum of 2 scholarly resources.

This illustration should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts that are presented in the readings and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect graduate-level writing and APA standards. Be sure to adhere to Northcentral University's Academic Integrity Policy.
