You will now put together the Signature Assignment for this course. You will find a graph that will allow you to organize your thoughts and findings. Be sure to address all the issues that need to be discussed to earn points on the rubric. Once you have entered your thoughts in the graph, you can then begin to write up the narrative that will bring it all into focus. You will turn in both the graph and the narrative to the Dropbox.
Please write a well-considered, formulated, and documented narration of what you plan to do to incorporate the basics of SEL into your current practice. You will consider this predominantly from the perspective of addressing student growth in social emotional competence; but it will also require consideration of the teacher, administration, and community. In considering the changes that must occur in order to allow for this focus, you will address the particular strengths and challenges at your current worksite (or a setting in which you hope to work in the future). You will identify targets, practices that could work, resources and barriers, the involvement of others, and a timeline. The graphic organizer will help you to include all the elements discussed above.
What to examine as you consider your plan of action to incorporate SEL components into your educational setting | Strengths | Weaknesses | Targets for change Barriers – removal plan |
How can change occur (practices and behaviors) | Economic, physical, and human resources already available | Who can help? How will you recruit them? | When? How long will it take? How will you measure achievement? |
