CHOOSE A SCENARIO
· I have an ISP at my home and have Internet access through various other methods.
· I do not have an ISP at my home but have Internet access through various other methods.
· I do not have an ISP at my home and I only have one method of accessing the Internet.
ADDRESS THE POINTS
1. Outline your primary Internet access plan and explain why the plan is your primary plan for coursework.
· What company is your current ISP or what company do you plan to use?
· Why did you select this ISP (e.g. connection speeds, price)?
· Does this ISP support all of the devices you need to connect (i.e. phone, laptop/desktop computer, tablets, smart TVs/smart TV devices such as Roku)?
· Is the service at broadband speeds?
· Is this primary access plan sustainable while you are an online student (e.g. can you afford it, do you have enough flexibility, is the service stable)?
· Explain why or why not the primary access plan is sustainable.
1. Outline your entire back-up plan prioritizing how and when you would engage each part of the plan (i.e. detail all of your options, prioritize when and why you would access the particular method).
· Do you have a hotspot back-up plan? Do you want to get one? Why or why not?
· Do you have an alternate residence/location to connect to the Internet? If so, where?
· Do you have public wifi access points? How close are the public access points to you (e.g. driving or walking time)? Do they have 24/7 access?
· What are some other locations where you can access the Internet (i.e. public library, your child's school, a Strayer campus, etc.)?
1. Lastly, review of your primary and back-up plans.
· Do you see any pitfalls in your planning?
· What situations are beyond your control (i.e. public health scare, blackouts/brownouts, natural disasters)?
· Does your plan change in consideration of any situations beyond your control?
ORGANIZE YOUR POST
1. Make sure that you always organize your post into paragraph format with 200+ words.
2. Create a conversational flow (e.g. talking to someone) with a scholarly tone (i.e. no text talk or slang, spell and grammar check always using a tool such as Grammarly, etc.).
NEXT STEPS
1. Respond to a peer's post using their first name.
2. Make sure your peer response is 100+ words and uses a conversational flow with a scholarly tone.
3. The goal of your peer post is to move the conversation forward by substantially responding and possibly asking a follow-up question to further the conversation.
4. If you have any questions, be sure to reach out via email to bonner@strayer.edu for help.
