As you may have noticed, writing is an important skill that you will continually use throughout your educational journey. So, the saying “practice makes perfect” applies to writing as well! If you never practice writing, you cannot master writing. The goal of this discussion is to allow you to practice your writing skills for your upcoming Assignment 2 and talk about someone you know well…yourself!

CHOOSE A SCENARIO

1. You need to create a short bio for a professional networking website, such as LinkedIn, so recruiters notice you and you start exploring your career opportunities.

2. You need to create an objective statement for your resume so that you can start applying for jobs in your future career.

3. You need to create a resume summary/profile that will get you noticed while applying for jobs in your future career.

ADDRESS THE POINTS

· You can open Word to use as an editor for this discussion post (i.e. practice your Word skills as well), but DO NOT attach a Word document to this discussion.

o Copy and paste your work from Word to the discussion forum window using CTRL+C to copy and CTRL+V to paste.

· Make sure your work is thorough (i.e. address all points noted in your reference article) no matter which scenario you choose.

· Post your completed short bio, objective statement, or resume summary/profile as your first paragraph in your post.

· In the second paragraph of your post, discuss the following:

o Did you find writing about yourself easy or difficult? Why?

o Did you find this practice useful in cultivating better writing skills?

o Which tools did you use to help you with writing mechanics (i.e. Grammarly, Word, etc.)?

o Do you feel that you will be able to write the letter required for Assignment 2 due in Week 5? Why or why not?

· Do you need help? If so, please explain how where you need help and how Team Bonner can help you.

ORGANIZE YOUR POST

1. Make sure that you always organize your post into paragraph format with 200+ words.

2. Create a conversational flow (e.g. talking to someone) with a scholarly tone (i.e. no text talk or slang, spell and grammar check always using a tool such as Grammarly, etc.).

NEXT STEPS

1. Respond to a peer's post using their first name.

2. Make sure your peer response is 100+ words and uses a conversational flow with a scholarly tone.

3. The goal of your peer post is to move the conversation forward by substantially responding and possibly asking a follow-up question to further the conversation.
