A Day in the Life of You…the Student! (Text-Only Version)
Life is crazy and sometimes you can feel like there are not enough hours in the day to do everything needed. So, it is important to understand how to organize and prioritize all challenges you are facing in a day. The goal of this discussion is to help you practice using a time management tool or process so that you can assess how you are spending your day!
REFERENCE

CHOOSE A SCENARIO

2. I have between one to two (1-2) hours today to dedicate to my CIS101 coursework.
3. I have less than an hour (<1 hour) today to dedicate to my CIS101 coursework.
ADDRESS THE POINTS
· On average, how many hours a day do you (NOTE: You do not need to list this in the discussion question as this list represents the areas you should address in calculating your time):

o Dedicate to health and wellness (i.e. exercise, meditation, etc.)?
o Engage in any other activity/task not listed?
· The following tasks are due in Week 6 of CIS101 with recommended time allotments, but you should think about how long the task will take you to complete (NOTE: You do not need to list this in the discussion question as this list represents the areas you should address in calculating your time):
o Watch the Real Talk: Real Talk with Naomi Bishop: Time Management (5 pts) – 5 minutes

o Based on this practice activity, do you see any areas to reassess or change in your daily practices?
o Do you have enough time to manage your CIS101 tasks effectively? Why or why not?
· Paragraph 2:
o What is your plan going forward?
§ What technology tools do you think are useful in managing your day?
§ If you do not use technology tools now, would you consider adopting a technology tool to help you manage your day more effectively? Why or why not?
§ What device or process do you rely on most during the day to keep you organized?
ORGANIZEÂ YOUR POST
1. Make sure that you always organize your post into paragraph format with 200+ words.
2. Create a conversational flow (e.g. talking to someone) with a scholarly tone (i.e. no text talk or slang, spell and grammar check always using a tool such as Grammarly, etc.).
NEXT STEPS
1. Respond to a peer's post using their first name.
2. Make sure your peer response is 100+ words and uses a conversational flow with a scholarly tone.
3. The goal of your peer post is to move the conversation forward by substantially responding and possibly asking a follow-up question to further the conversation.
4. If you have any questions, be sure to reach out via email to bonner@strayer.edu for help.
