CIS 111 Week 8 Discussion The Role of Databases and Database Management Systems (DBMS) in the Context of Enterprise Systems
"The Role of Databases and Database Management Systems (DBMS) in the Context of Enterprise Systems" Please respond to the following:
Database servers store and retrieve large volumes of structured data on high speed disk arrays. The server software can be purchased off the shelf from companies like Oracle or Microsoft; then, software developers use the database services to hold the data collected by their programs. Data gets held in structures known as tables, with each table holding a set of related items. One table may hold a list of customers, listing their names, addresses, credit ratings, and other data. A second table may hold customer sales, listing each purchase by customer. The database stores all this data in a way that makes it fast and easy to retrieve related items. Research the role of databases and database management systems.
Discuss the role of databases and database management systems in the context of enterprise systems. Also include a discussion on the components of the DBMS.
