Hello,
I am reviewing for a physics exam that I have soon and I don't understand the question below. When I tried answering it I wrote that the work was the same because if we use vectors for the diagram, AB+BC= AD+DC (the diagonal). However, that is not right. I looked at the answer and I don't understand why the work is the same. If I use the equation W= delta Q - delta U , as the change in the temperature and the change in the internal energy are the same (as specified in the answer), shouldn't the work be = 0? I don't understand why the area can be used to show that the work is greater for ABC. Could someone help me understand it?
Also, what is the first law?
