Throughout this course, you have learned many strategies for how to evaluate sources for credibility. Inherent in evaluating sources is understanding your reading strategy. How do you approach academic reading for research? What strategies did you use before the course and what strategies are you using now? For this reflective journal, you are going to review a scholarly article about reading and information literacy and reflect on what you are noticing about your own reading style.

Write

  • Recall. Explain what you remember from learning to read in elementary and middle school.
  • Reflect. Discuss some of the unexpected challenges you have had with reading during this course.
  • Predict some changes you will need to make to your reading strategies as you move onto other courses.

 

The Reading Strategies Reflective Journal should be at least one page with three distinct paragraphs. Citations and references are not required as this is a reflection to continue your thinking about reading strategies and how you can continue to improve persistence with academic reading.
