Grab your brew of choice and sit for a while with your classmates. This is an opportunity for you to share your thoughts about your learning and growth, as well as your struggles and challenges, in your first course at UAGC. Honesty and sincerity are welcomed. This forum is an opportunity for peer-to-peer support; therefore, your instructor will not be participating in the forum, but they will be reading your responses and providing feedback within the gradebook. Talk with each other as if you were sitting at a table having coffee at a favorite café.
This forum is intended to give you a voice and help you develop intentional learning practices. It is an opportunity to think about how you processed the learning from this course. You are welcome to reference any of the required or supplementary materials, videos, or instructor guidance, as well as anything in the text that had an impact on your thinking, feeling, or actions.
| Prepare
Prior to working on this discussion, reflect on the following:
- Your experience in this course
- Your strengths and areas for growth
- Where you excel
- Areas you could develop
| Write
In your initial discussion forum post (of a minimum of 150 words),
- Describe one thing you have done in this course that has made you proud.
- Explain why you are proud of this accomplishment.
- Discuss the biggest challenge or obstacle you had to overcome in this course.
- Describe a strategy you can use to overcome this obstacle in future courses.
- Explain the skills you have learned in this course that you can use in future courses.
| Guided Response
Review your classmates’ posts and respond to at least two of your peers by Day 7.
Try to choose two classmates you have not yet responded to. Each peer response should be a minimum of 50 words. Helping your classmates will not only benefit them—it will help you solidify your knowledge.
In your peer responses,
- Provide support to students expressing a challenge.
- Provide encouragement to students expressing a challenge. You may choose to remind them of resources you have learned about in the course.
An important part of your learning involves the exchange of ideas and feedback with your peers and instructor. They are also tied to the participation and critical thinking components of your earned discussion grade.
If you have questions that need a response from your instructor, please contact your instructor directly using the Canvas Inbox.
