The Self-Assessment Analysis will help you gain further insight into your characteristics and preferences and increase your self-awareness. Identifying your personality type, interests, and values can help you choose a meaningful career and help you identify skills that are qualities of a strong leader. To prepare for this assignment, complete the TypeFocus Self-Assessment. It will take you through an online personality assessment, an interests assessment, and a values assessment. Once you have completed your TypeFocus Self-Assessment, you will write a short paper describing the results and how they apply to your career goals.

Prior to working on this assignment, do the following:

Complete the TypeFocus Self-Assessments. You must complete this before starting the Self-Assessment Analysis assignment. Your results from the TypeFocus Self-Assessment will be used to answer the questions for the Self-Assessment Analysis assignment, so it is important that you take your time and thoughtfully complete the assessment.

    1. Watch the TypeFocus IntroductionLinks to an external site. video that explains how the TypeFocus Assessments can be useful in your career plans.
    2. Watch The Qualities of a Strong LeaderLinks to an external site.

    3. Complete the TypeFocus Assessments:   
        • Personality Assessment
        • Interests Assessment
        • Values Assessment

When you have completed each assessment:

  • Select “Review your Assessment Result," and copy/paste the descriptions to keep this information. The results section will be used in your TypeFocus Personality, Interests, and Values assignment.
  • You can also print your results by selecting “Print Report” for each assessment. 
  • Return to the next assessment by selecting the back arrow until you reach the start page. 
  • When you have completed all assessments, log out using the Logout button at the top center of the page. Remember to complete your entire assessment before you log out; otherwise, you may lose your results and need to begin again.  

Note: You can revisit your results at any time by logging in and clicking on each link in the Self Assessments tab. After registering as a new user, you can re-enter again by clicking on Returning Users, Login! and enter just your email address and password. If you want to change your name or password, login and then click into My Account.

You will write about the information you have gathered from the Type Focus assessments and course readings in a paper. Be sure to include details, explanations, and examples to support your ideas.

To complete your assignment, download the Self-Assessment Analysis template Download Self-Assessment Analysis templateand respond to each section. Save the completed template to your computer and upload it to Waypoint. Be sure to double-check that it was properly saved and successfully uploaded.

In your Self-Assessment Analysis paper, 

  • Identify your personality type. Are you an ISTJ, an ESTP, etc.? Review the description of your personality type on the Myers & Briggs Foundation’s The 16 MBTI® TypesLinks to an external site. webpage. 
  • Explain whether you feel the results of the TypeFocus Assessment accurately describe your personality type.
  • Identify the career or position you wish to pursue after graduation. 
  • Identify your top three interests from the TypeFocus results. Your response should include a combination of interests from the Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, or Conventional areas. Explain how the responsibilities of your selected career or position are aligned with the interests identified for you by the TypeFocus assessment.
  • Identify your top three values from the TypeFocus results. Your response should include a combination of values from the Achievement, Independence, Recognition, Relationships, Support, or Working Conditions areas. Explain how the responsibilities of your selected career or position are aligned with the values identified for you by the TypeFocus assessment.
