Overview

In this module, you were introduced to the SMART Goal setting strategy to organize your personal or professional ambitions in a specific goal statement. You may find that you have more than one goal that meets the SMART criteria, and if you do, consider how you can bring these goals together to help you articulate your SMART goal. Being able to communicate your goal to others is important. When others understand what you are trying to accomplish and why, they are more likely to support your efforts. Completing the Bachelor of Arts in General Studies degree program is only one important element of accomplishing your goal. Helping others understand why the BA.GST degree is a strategic choice will assist you in advancing your career or achieving personal ambitions. For this milestone assignment, you will submit a more succinct version of your SMART goal and strategy.

In this section, you will introduce the career and/or personal goals related to achieving your BA.GST degree. You will do this in a brief goal statement (one to two paragraphs). You will then develop a SMART goal related to your academic plan of study. Remember that your introduction needs to establish the basis of your decisions for your audience. Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed:

• Concisely introduce your academic plan of study with a goal statement that details your career and/or personal goals in a manner appropriate for academic and professional audiences.  
• Develop a SMART goal related to your academic plan of study.  
  • Identify a specific goal for your plan of study  
  • How you will measure successful completion of the goal 
  • Identification of actions or resources needed to attain the goal 
  • The relevance of the goal 
  • A time frame for achieving the goal

Your paper should be a 1- to 2-page Microsoft Word document written in APA format. Use double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins.
