Project Schedule: SDLC, WBS

Assignment

Project (Phase 1 due at the end of Week 4)

During Weeks 2 through 6, you will work on a project based on one of the case study options shown below. You will work on phase 1 of the project in Weeks 2, 3 and 4, and phase 2 of the project in Weeks 5 and 6.

During Phase 1, you are required to create the following:

  1. Project Scope Definition: Requirements, Use Cases, Non Functional Requirements, Constraints
  2. Project Schedule: SDLC, WBS (phases, milestones, activities, resources, estimates)Note: You are not required to submit an assignment at the end of Weeks 2 or 3; you will submit your project at the end of Week 4.Case Study Options:This week, you must choose one of the case study options below. Then, consider the most appropriate SDLC and justify your reasoning behind this choice.Option 1:
A new patient management system is to be developed to support the operation of a large dental practice. The system will be used by the dentists, dental nurses, and reception staff. The system will keep track of the scheduling of various types of appointments (e.g. cleaning, extraction, fillings, etc.) for new and existing patients.Option 2:
A mail order company sells cleaning products. The company sells a number of different products each of which is ordered using a unique Product ID number. Sales Orders are received from customers by post or e-mail and are processed by using a computerized order management system.Option 3:
A conference organizer needs a web-based system for automating (as much as possible) the paper submission, reviewing and approvals process. It will allow authors to submit papers; manage the allocation to reviewers based on specialty (defined by the organizer); and collect and distribute feedback to authors. The system will work according to the conference paper submission process (you will need to research this if you are not already familiar with it) and deadlines are defined by the organizer.
