 Blue Zones Vitality Compass.

 This lab consists of viewing a YouTube video and reading an article, then completing the Blue Zones Vitality Compass.

This is an exercise in critical thinking, self-assessment, and introspection. The components of the Vitality Compass include: Right Outlook, Move Naturally, Eat Wisely, Belong, and Lifestyle & Environment. (There are no right or wrong answers for this lab! Have fun with it.)

 

Premise of Lab

Our nutrition and fitness – and our individual values related to these areas – do not occur in a vacuum. They are health and lifestyle components of a much bigger picture – the social context of our families, communities, ethnic and racial values, cultures, and more.

The Vitality Compass is a self-assessment tool that claims to be “the most accurate life estimator available". Calculate your:

  • Biological Age
  • Overall Life Expectancy
  • Healthy Life Expectancy
  • Years you’re gaining/losing because of your health habits

At the conclusion of the self-assessment, you will see up to 12 customized recommendations to help you live longer.
