Each module will begin with activities including readings, video, field trip or other activities that you will complete prior to coming to class. It is important that you complete these activities so that you come to class prepared to actively engage with peers in constructing understanding. At the end of the activities, you will complete a task showing what you have learned so far. This will also help you uncover misconceptions and areas where you need more clarification.

Here is the field that has been donated for the County Fair. It is 20 acres. Each acre is 660 feet by 66 feet and together they form a rectangle.

Complete the LYNDA tutorial in Part 1 of Math Fundamentals, the firs three sections on whole numbers:

1. Why practice Mental Math?
2. Estimation in mental math?
3. Order of operations

1. Go to Math.com and work through the tutorial on signed integers. Click on "Integers" in the table. Complete each tab, "first glance", "in depth", Examples, and then do the "workout" to check your understanding.
2. In the same Math.com site move to the next topics in the Table, Adding and Subtracting Integers, Multiplying and Dividing Integers, and finally, Properties of Integers - completing the same "first glance:, "in depth", Examples, and checking your understanding in "workout"

1. Go to the Internet and search for county fairs to get some ideas about how they have been designed.
2. Make a tentative plan for how you would set up the space for the fair. What things do you need to consider? What attractions will you include? What services do you need to provide?
3. Then make a list of mathematical processes that you would need to use to figure out all the details of your fair.
