Cancer radiation therapy

 Cancer radiation therapy would be most likely improved by the addition of what therapy? More than one answer may be correct.

a. P53 replacement (Yes induces cell death)

b. Inhibitor of XP genes (Yes decreases ability to repair DNA damage from radiation)

c. Activation of MSH genes (No,would improve MMR)

d. Stimulation of BRCA1 (No,would improve HR;the ability of cancer to repair DNA damage)

 

The answer is in the (...), Could you please explain in details why XP genes deceases ability to repair DNA damage? Why MSH improves MMR? I am so confused with the question and answer. Why BRCA1 would improve HR;the ability of cancer to repair DNA damage?
