Research two companies' financial statements from one of the following industries:

  • Airline
  • Automotive - (Tesla and Ford would be a good comparison) 
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Oil/gas
  • Retail
  • Computer Hardware

Analyze table 14.8 in Financial Management: Core Concepts, Ch. 14: "Financial Ratios: Industry Averages."

Prepare the following ratios for the two sets of financial statements in Microsoft® Excel®:

  • Price to Earnings
  • Gross Margin
  • Profit Margin
  • Current Ratio
  • Debt to Equity
  • Return on Assets
  • Return on Equity

Compare your completed ratios to the industry average chart.

Evaluate in 1175 words which company, of the two you have researched, is doing better.
