QUESTIONS AND APPLICATIONS

Prepare answers to each of the problems indicated below. The first two questions are from your International Financial Management text. Your responses should include a statement of the problem or question, along with your answer and narrative analysis as needed. For the Internet/Excel exercise, you will go to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Web site (link in the Resources) to access information about currency futures and options. Complete the following:

  • In your textbook, complete the following:
    • "Small Business Dilemma, Assessment by the Sports Exports Company of Factors That Affect the British Pound's Value," page 133.
    • "Internet/Excel Exercises" on currency futures and options, Question 3, page 167.
  • You have been monitoring the value of the yen and noticed its spot rate moving in cycles over time. What futures strategies would you propose to take advantage of this?

ASSIGNMENT SUBMISSION

In all cases where numeric solutions are expected, provide full documentation of the process used to reach the solution, using Excel to provide computational details.
