Suppose an electrolytic cell is made by exploiting the following redox reaction.

 

3Cd(s) + 2Au3+(aq) 3Cd2+(aq) + 2Au(s)

 

  1. Find Eðcell (3 points)
  2. If Ecell is +1.99 V and the concentration of Au3+ is 2.15 M, what is the concentration of Cd2+ in solution? (7 points)

Au3+ (aq) + 3e- --> Au (s)

Cd2+ (aq) + 2e- --> Cd (s)

 

For (1.) I got an answer of +1.90 v

For (2.) I got 1.50 x 10-3 M using the answer from (1.) and plugging it into the Nernst equation.
