Mixing tank is machine container used for blending different components together. The purpose of the blending tanks (B-12) is to regenerate slurry from streams 1 and 3 with fresh feeds of lime from streams 5 and 7.For the development of an effective and efficient scrubbing system the solubility and rate of dissolution of the limestone slurry have to be optimised. For optimum performance it is recommended that the blending tank be of sufficient volume, such that it is capable of meeting not just the volumetric requirements of the limestone scrubber is connected to, but also has excess capacity that prevent its content from overflowing to surrounding areas should issues from feed and discharge streams.
These tanks utilise rotating component known as impellers to achieve desired mixing of differing streams input streams. The two types of impellers commonly used re axial and radial flow impellers. Axial flow impellers are mainly used on homogenization processes, whereas radial flow impellers are chiefly used for the mixing of immiscible liquids. To achieve optimum performance for the mixing process the optimal impeller inclination angle should be sought out for the process of mixing fresh lime, water and recycled slurry.
