Why a presentation?

Introduction

For your final project, you will create a 5 - 10 minute audio/visual presentation with either a recorded voice over or a 5 - 10 minute video of you presenting your paper (you don't have to do both).

The deadline for the final draft is Saturday of Week 4 at 11:59pm Mountain Time.

Why a presentation?

Giving a presentation is a vital communication skill that employers look for when hiring or promoting employees. Professionals give presentations designed to inform or persuade clients, coworkers, or supervisors.

As you move forward as a professional you will have more responsibility and influence in an organization. This assignment gives you an opportunity to practice within the relatively low stress environment of our class.

Topic Selection

The video will be based on your paper from Week 1 and your script from Week 2. It should be on communications in your professional life.

Technology

Most students will likely use Microsoft PowerPoint to complete this assignment. However, feel free to make use of any software or app you are comfortable with (e.g. Screenr, Youtube, iMovie, Windows Movie Maker). Just be sure to check your choice with your instructor if you have questions or get stuck.

Default Format

You can select your own presentation method; you could even stand and present hand-drawn pictures while a friend videos you on their phone. The default project assignment is a PowerPoint presentation using the following guidelines:

  • Time limit: 5 - 10 minutes
  • Slides: At minimum, 8 slides with graphics and author's notes (your script)
  • Target audience:  Fellow students
  • Purpose: Present information from your Week 1 paper and Week 2 script.
  • References: Include a references slide in APA format at the end of the presentation. Use our textbook and a minimum of two other resources to support the points you are making.

Audio Options

Your presentation must have a audio component. You can accomplish this by choosing one of the following options:

  • OPTION 1: Have someone video you making a presentation using slides, drawings, posters, or other visual aids.
  • OPTION 2: Record the audio using PowerPoint or another tool that allows you to record your voice (e.g. Audacity, Screenr.com, iMovie, Windows Movie Maker, or other software)

Guidelines for Creating a PowerPoint or Slide Presentation

  • Use a new slide for each new idea or concept you want to discuss.
  • Keep the font 24 pt or above.
  • Make use of graphics or pictures which are appropriate to your audience and clearly convey the idea or concept.

please see attachments below these two attachments will help with the presentation project.
