THEORY APPLICATION ASSIGNMENT (20%)
Compare and contrast two child development theories (Erickson, Freud, Piaget, Vygotsky). Identify behaviours (cognitive and social/emotional domains)Â you expect at each stage or for each major tenet of the theories selected. You should also identify age appropriate activities the children should be engaged in, developmentally appropriate kinds of rewards/punishment) that are suitable at each stage.
 Having examined these two theories, discuss using examples the role of the early childhood practitioner in facilitating the child’s development at each stage/or for each major tenet of the theories, at the early childhood level (Birth –to 5 years).
Your response to the task should be presented in a PowerPoint presentation of 12-15 slides (excluding the cover page/slide and slide(s) with references. You will be graded heavily for application. For example, if you select Vygotsky and you want to highlight how teachers can apply the principle of Zone of Proximal Development, identify the task and why it might be a challenge and explain how early childhood educators can help facilitate the child learning/skill in that area. Feel free to include pictures. Do not copy and paste materials from the internet. Your examples should be original.
